Homemade Gingersnaps

My husband loves Ginger Snaps so I made him some today.  Here’s a great recipe if you want a wonderful fall treat.

1 1/2 cups shortening

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1/2 cup molasses

4 cups flour

4 teaspoons soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves

1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger

Directions:

Cream first 4 ingredients.  Sift and stir in dry ingredients.  Form balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.  (I like to roll them in sugar or cinnamon & sugar before baking).  Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.  Let them cool on the cookie sheet before removing them to a cooling rack.  They are delicious with milk.  Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
