- Today I discovered a great time management app called “Remember the Milk” that can be downloaded for free through the Apple store and Google Play. If you have never used it before, be sure to check out the videos offered on the website at https://www.rememberthemilk.com/ and read the forums to see how other people are using this app.
This evening we defrosted our freezer in the garage. As we put things away, I used “Remember the Milk” to make notes of the various items in our freezer with the tag “freezer”. Now I’ll plan meals around the items we have on hand.
We found hamburger buns and rolls that had dried out in the freezer. Instead of throwing them away, I went online and found a recipe for homemade Italian bread crumbs. I’m able to use the new food processor I just bought and make these so easily. Here’s the recipe I am using from http://www.foodnetwork.com
- 4 oz. stale bread torn into 1″ pieces
- 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until course crumbs form. Spread on baking pans and bake until crumbs begin to turn brown, about 5 minutes. Cool the crumbs about 15-20 minutes. Transfer to an airtight container for storage of 2 weeks.
Last week I made deep fried onion rings that called for Italian bread crumbs. Can’t wait to see how I can make use of this homemade recipe!
